TV Mounting & Shelving on San Juan Island
Anything that has to hold weight on a wall — mounted into studs, at the right height.
- Licensed & bonded
- WA L&I #SANJUJI741OT
- Insured
- Locally owned in Friday Harbor
The category of job that’s genuinely easy if you have the tools and a stud finder, and genuinely miserable if you don’t.
TVs go into studs or proper toggles, cables get routed into surface raceway or through a wall pass-through, and the mount goes at the height you actually watch from rather than the height that looks right on the wall. Same principle for everything else that has to hold weight — shelving, closet systems, mirrors, a heavy piece of art over a stairwell.
What I don’t do is the wiring. I hold a Washington general contractor registration, not an electrical or plumbing license, so anything that involves conductors, boxes, or supply lines gets a licensed contractor. Appliances are the one nuance worth stating plainly: cord-and-plug connected appliances can be installed or swapped by anyone, hard-wired appliances cannot, and I stay on the cord-and-plug side of that line.

What’s included
- TV wall mounting, including over-fireplace mounts
- Cable routing into surface raceway or a wall pass-through — no new wiring
- Shelving, floating shelves, and closet systems
- Mirrors, medicine cabinets, and heavy wall hangings
- Towel bars, robe hooks, curtain rods, and blinds
- Cord-and-plug appliances only — hard-wired appliances go to a licensed electrical contractor
- Wall anchoring done into studs or rated toggles, not drywall alone
What it costs
Standard $250 minimum covering two hours, then $85/hour. Most single installs are inside the minimum — which again is the argument for batching. A TV, a set of floating shelves, and two blinds is one visit. See the rate card.
Full rate cardCommon questions
Can you mount above a fireplace?
Usually, but I’ll check the heat situation first. Some setups will cook a TV and I’ll tell you if yours is one of them.
Can you put a new outlet behind the TV?
No. New outlets, new circuits, and anything else involving wiring require a Washington electrical contractor license, which I don’t hold and won’t advertise. I’ll get a licensed electrician on it and meet them at the house.
I bought the mount already. Fine?
Completely fine, and it usually saves you money. Just have it on site.
